Linus works as a consultant in the corporate finance team, combining the ambitious work ethic of a top athlete with deep expertise in the financial sector for demanding transaction projects. His work is characterized by uncompromising quality and a continuous drive for development, embodying Spring’s values to the fullest.
Prior to Spring Advisor, I pursued a career as a professional golfer, competing on an international stage for six years. During this time, I managed the underlying financial operations and contract negotiations inherent in running what was essentially a small business. While my career on the golf course eventually came to an end, the experiences, achievements, and memories accumulated together with others remain vivid, shaping who I am today. It was a natural point to transition into a more “traditional” career path.
My transition into the corporate world began at Nordea followed by KPMG, where I spent over a year and a half as an auditor. This role provided a robust foundation in financial analysis, but I sought a role more aligned with my academic background – a bachelor’s degree in finance from the U.S. and master’s degree in finance from Aalto University. As a former professional athlete, I typically thrive in competitive, collaborative, and high-pressure environments. I also enjoy challenging myself in all facets of life, and I saw management consulting providing that challenge. This is one of the reasons why I joined Spring Advisor.
I was also drawn to Spring based on a recommendation from a mutual friend who spoke highly of its entrepreneurial mindset, tight-knit culture, and the possibility to take ownership of significant responsibilities early on in one’s career. I saw this as an excellent opportunity to develop professionally while gaining greater accountability than might typically be available in the early stages of a career. After almost a year and a half at Spring Advisor, working within the corporate finance team, I can confidently say that Spring has provided ample opportunities to grow and take ownership of critical engagement components. Moreover, Spring comprises highly intelligent colleagues from diverse backgrounds, fostering an environment of continuous learning and professional growth – exactly what I was seeking in my career’s next step.
As a third-year analyst, my role has been diverse, encompassing tasks such as fairness opinions, valuations, ownership and growth strategies, commercial due diligence, and M&A transactions. My focus has predominantly been on buy-side transactions, which has been particularly rewarding.
Looking ahead, my short-term aspirations at Spring include transitioning towards a project manager role and providing more impact to our clients together with my colleagues. Regardless of where my future will lead me, I am confident that the skills and experiences I gain at Spring will serve me well.
