Everyday Life at Spring: The Story of Spring

Spring in Our Hearts

The story of Spring began when the founding quartet (Ville Saila, Mikko Laitinen, Lari Stark and Miikka Autio) started envisioning a new kind of consulting firm for senior management, one that would be rooted in a human-centric culture. Spring was born both in their hearts and soon after in the company’s founding documents.

At the core of Spring is the belief that rigid practices and formal structures do not produce the best outcomes for clients. The aim and vision have always been to create a company where uncompromising quality in management consulting is combined with a relaxed and appreciative working atmosphere. Spring’s culture is deeply human-driven, and the development of every Spring team member is strongly supported while also caring for their overall wellbeing.

Spring’s story truly began in spring 2017. The values, quality and wellbeing defined at its founding still form the pillars of its operations. The company has succeeded in creating a stable growth platform for both its employees and business. The cornerstones—quality, culture, and people—continue to generate results.

Deliberate Planning Behind Every Success

Since its founding, Spring has succeeded in staying on track with its strategic plans. Success has not come automatically, as both the client base and assignments have been highly demanding. Spring’s work begins only when the client’s and owners’ most challenging business problems need solving. Spring’s service concept is based on building multidisciplinary teams whose expertise and capability meet client needs.

After careful groundwork, Spring quickly began to gain traction with clients, and business started rolling. Even early on, Spring was offered the chance to take on challenging projects that its founders saw as crucial starting points for the company’s growth and credibility. One project even made it to national headlines when it was featured on Yle’s teletext front page. That marked a significant opening for Spring’s path forward.

Over the past decade, deliberate planning has remained at the core. The future theses defined at its founding have been realized through hard work and the right strategic choices. The journey has been one of continuous development, and Spring has grown into a significant player by many measures. The positive foundation colors everyday life at Spring, where success itself feeds new opportunities. The story of Spring is like a thriller with dramatic arcs—things have not gone exactly as expected

A Stable Present Enables the Next Steps

As Spring approaches its fifth anniversary, it has achieved stability in its operations from many perspectives. Spring has grown into a company built on broad expertise, with competencies that support one another.

The future of Spring is bright, built on a stable foundation for further development. A strong culture, underpinned by each Spring team member, and standardized working methods provide the conditions for taking new steps forward and pursuing the next milestones.

Why Spring Advisor and Yellow?

The name Spring Advisor was born and confirmed in spring 2017 on Unioninkatu in Helsinki, after an evening gathering. The name Spring symbolizes growth and a new beginning, while also serving as an “artefact” for the time of the company’s founding. Spring, in Finnish also meaning “bow,” reflects flexibility as a company and the ability to stretch and deliver quality even under pressure.

And the colour yellow? Like the icing on the cake.

“Yellow is associated with the sun, warmth, energy, intelligence, happiness and hope. It symbolizes optimism, alertness, freshness, boldness, curiosity, independence, strength and enlightenment.”

In Spring, I move.
