Our intern for spring 2026 answers questions about his experiences at Spring Academy
Who are you and when were you a trainee at Spring?
I’m Kalle-Tapio, a soon-to-graduate finance student from Turku School of Economics. I’ve been a trainee at Spring Advisor during the spring of 2026. Before Spring, I had gained experience from business controlling and strategy consulting.
What kind of tasks did you get to work on?
The work has been genuinely varied. I’ve worked on various projects including go-to-market strategy, sell-side M&A, commercial due diligence, and corporate strategy. In practice, that has meant building market models, drafting Information Memoranda, conducting competitor analyses, workshopping with clients, and putting together screening and sales materials.
How do you feel about your trainee period?
It has been a lot, in the best possible way. I’ve been trusted with genuine responsibility from early on. The flat hierarchy makes it easy to ask questions, learn, and grow. I feel I’ve developed more professionally in these last few months than I expected to.
How would you describe the Spring team and culture from your perspective?
The culture is relaxed and non-hierarchical. What stands out is that people come from genuinely different backgrounds and are encouraged to bring that into their work. There’s no expectation to fit a single mould. At the same time, the focus stays on what actually matters: quality work and real results. No nonsense around it.
Why did you choose to apply to Spring?
I had attended Spring’s excursion before and came away with a strong impression of the atmosphere and the people. What ultimately drew me in was the combination of a people-centred culture and a clear commitment to high-quality work. Beyond that, the opportunity to work across both strategy and M&A transactions was an interesting chance to develop both skill sets in parallel.
What was the most fun or memorable moment during your internship?
The moments that have stuck with me most are the ones where client work has landed well. Seeing a client genuinely pleased with what we’ve delivered is hard to beat. On a lighter note, I’ve also really enjoyed the sports club activities like Barry’s, and Spring’s birthday and summer parties have been a great way to get to know the team outside of work.
